Tommaso Maggiolo


Born in 1986, Tommaso Maggiolo graduated in modern clarinet with Mirta Tormen at the Agostino Steffani Conservatoire in Castelfranco Veneto (Treviso). He is currently attending the last year in Musicology (MA) at University of Pavia. In 2009 he graduated in Musicology (BA) after preparing and presenting the thesis: Organization of the sound space in the "Cantiones Sacrae" by William Byrd. He attended workshops and master classes with Fabrizio Meloni, Fabio Di Casola and Luca Lucchetta.

After the clarinet degree, he approached to the historical clarinet and studied with Luca Lucchetta at the A. Pedrollo Conservatoire in Vicenza. He is also interested to baroque singing; he attended master classes with Walter Testolin and Marco Scavazza. Ha performed with Belluno Wind Band and Ensemble "Rydin" like instrumentalist and with Schola Cantorum "Santa Giustina" (Belluno) and Early Music Ensemble of the Vicenza Conservatoire like singer. He also collaborated with vocal ensemble L’Artifizio Armonico; with this group he recorded the first complete edition of  Psalmodia vespertina by Agostino Steffani.

He performs, like chalumeau player, with Ensemble Seconda Prattica. He plays chalumeaux made by Rudolf Tutz (Innsbruck).
