Teodoro Baù

 

Born in 1992, Teodoro Baù began learning the viola da gamba at a young age with Claudia Pasetto. He graduated with highest honours and special prize in Verona consevatory in 2012, with Alberto Rasi. He also studied renaissance lute for seven years with Massimo Lonardi in Venice.  He has attended several viola da gamba masterclasses with Guido Balestracci and Cristiano Contadin. Additionally, he plays the medieval fiddle in the ensemble La Fonte Musica, directed by Michele Pasotti, with whom he plays music of the Late Middle Ages.  Currently, he is pursuing a Master of Arts in Musikalischer Performance at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis, studying with Paolo Pandolfo.

Teodoro regularly performs as a soloist and in chamber ensembles and orchestras in important festivals. He has collaborated with artists such as Cecilia Bartoli, Juan Manuel Quintana, Roy Goodman, Alfredo Bernardini, and Diego Fasolis.  Recently, he performed in live-broadcasted recitals of music by M. Marais and A. Forqueray for “ORF Radio Österreich 1” and “Dwójka – Polskie Radio”.

He is a winner of the Premio Nazionale delle Arti as soloist of ancient instruments. He has several recordings to his credit with Decca, Naxos and Diastema. Finally, he participated in the recording of Mission, the latest Cecila bartoli release.
